This body of work began as a collaboration with electronic musician, Anthony Dicembre funded by the Cornell Council for the Arts. Sound modulations occur via stretching, crumpling and rolling the textile. Graduate and undergraduate students Anna Gyenge, Apurva Pandey, Maisie McDonald and Hannah Norris in the Department of Human Centered Design at Cornell University contributed to the project. Ashlyn Lee and Drew Brown graciously produced sounds through their movement and interaction with several pieces. The project has continued through an Independent Project grant from The Architectural League of New York and NYSCA. I am currently collaborating with a selection of dancers, musicians and interdisciplinary artists to develop textile and garment designs more suitable to the expressive use of sound modulation.
