My interests are broad and my skills are specific. I enjoy collaborating with others including my students on projects that require input from a diverse set of skills and interests. One common denominator in my textile based collaborations is an interest in the mysterious potential of knit textile structures and an openness to process and discovery through material exploration. In some of the collaborations below, I am a team member, in others I am the leader, or as we say in academia, the PI. To learn more about my collaborative projects please select the images below.

Building a Farm

This ongoing project brings together players across the New York State (NYS) local wool supply chain to develop yarn suitable for knitting in industrial machines available at NYS fashion schools.

Threads of Light and Soundscapes This exhibit was a collaboration with Professor So-Yeon Yoon who created an image mapping triggered by sound harnessing knit pieces.

Harnessing Sound from Knit Textiles.

This ongoing project started as a collaboration with electronic musician, Anthony Dicembre and was funded by grants from the Cornell Council for the Arts, NYSCA, and the Architectural League of New York. This project resulted in multiple collaborations, exhibitions, and a presentation at the Knit Futures Symposium at Kent State University.

The Sound of the Right Whale This piece came out of conversations with scientist Ashakur Rahaman, whose conservation work includes listening to the sounds of the Northern Right Whale, an endangered species.
